Halloween stitching and Thread Holders

Halloween stitching and thread holders have been my focus lately, I have repurposed some I designed way back in 2013!

Halloween patterns are one of my favourite patterns to stitch, and of course we had to have another mini cat .

I made another scissor fob and trimmed it with Mill Hill beads around the edge. A cute white ghost peeping at the side with spook, boo, and fright stitched in orange DMC thread.

Cross Stitch Planner

This pattern looks cute stitched on white Aida but I also stitched it on this Sage Green fabric and loved the effect. A little pillow and ornament is going to be part of this set.

To ensure I stay organised I am currently using my new printable cross stitch planner. I have completed the first sheet and plan to add a couple more, it will be available in my Etsy shop soon.

I always thought I was pretty organized but now I really need these as I have lots of works in progress.

Floss Tube and Thread Holders

Watching cross stitchers on floss tube can be quite addictive. At the beginning of this year I noticed a lot of cross stitchers were talking about thread drops.

Mmm, I used to call them thread holders but now they are floss holders, floss keepers, thread keeps, you name it there is a name for them!

Corset thread holders

Back in 2013 I had already designed some corset digital thread holders for my readers to download here . I actually forgot that I had already made digital thread holders.

All you need to do is print them out onto card stock, cut around the edge and punch a 1/2″ hole at the top and bottom and add them to a thread ring.

Some of these images for the corset design are too large for thread holders to go on the ring, I initially used these to wrap thread onto them and also for use as ribbon holders.

I will re-purpose these and upload a pdf soon.

After watching quite a lot of floss tubers using the thread rings with the cards to hang thread, in particular, Nell on Little Yellow House Crafts, it did seem to be the latest craze.

Also, The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch showed some gorgeous thread holders on rings with cabochons and charms attached. They were made by Etsy sellers, and I really wanted to make my own.

I already had the cabochons in my stash and the charms from my Etsy store so I decided to put a mini cat selection of thread holders together.

I have a re-purposed freebie here for you, I designed these digital thread holders in November 2014 and published them on my blog for you to download.

Using the tips I have seen on Floss Tube I repurposed them for today’s cross stitcher. You can download the thread holders, drops, (whatever you want to call them ) from this previous post here, or at the bottom of this post.

Just print onto card, cut around the edge and punch a 1/2″ hole at the top and bottom and pop them onto a binder ring.

The pretty bee charm looked so cute!

I think you can cut them on a Cricut or Silhouette machine, I am not sure.

Be warned, thread holders/drops are addictive! I really love these and forgot how lovely it was to make them, the swirly design is so cute and delicate.
