Santa progress and winner of stitch along!

Hi everyone, this is the first chance I have had to finally get a blog post up and announce the winner of the stitch along, sorry it has taken so long!

I thought I would first show my progress on the Mirabilia Santa, it grows really quickly and is a surprising easy stitch as there are large blocks of colour together, I am really enjoying stitching on this piece, I only have the face to complete and stitch the beads on and he will be finished. Yay!!!!

Before I show more photos below I would like to say thankyou to the people who joined in the stitch along and sent me photos of their lovely projects, I have inserted photos below together with the announcement of the winner of the pillow and charms.
Work in progress of 30 years in he making
I am almost too embarrassed to admit this, but I have started stitching again on a project that I started 30 years ago when I was expecting my son, I never got around to finishing this piece even though there were only a few more stitches to put in and some back stitching to do. I purchased the kit and ran out of some of the threads so it got put in a bag and was never seen again, until now!
I knew it was there, I never forgot about it and always knew I would get around to it one day, better late than never I suppose! Lol…..

It is a really lovely pattern and when it is finished I will get it framed and it can become a family heirloom.  (Photos below)

I started stitching the white, I always save that until last, I have the face to complete and there are a few beads to stitch and then it will be complete.

The colours in this piece are so pretty and bright

Here it is, the 30 years work in progress!

A Noah’s Ark design, I just have a bit of back stitching to do and some small areas of stitching and then it will be finished.

It was as if it was yesterday when I started this, I remember it so clearly sat by the window, in my armchair, anticipating the arrival of our only child, of course we were not to know that at the time but looking back I sincerely regret only having one child. I love our son more than words can possibly say but if I had my time over again I would have had at least two children.
To all you young Mums out there, cherish the moment you hold your child in your arms because that moment soon passes in the blink of an eye.

Congratulations June, you are the winner of the stitch along, you will receive the pillow and the tin with all of the charms and stitch markers in the photo.

Please contact me so that I can arrange to send your prize.

Thankyou to everyone who sent a photo of their finishes, you can see the photos below.

I loved this quilt hanging that Kathleen made, so pretty!

Suzanne made this gorgeous baby bib, such a nice idea to finish it like this.

Michele stitched this lovely bag, again it is ever so pretty!

Thankyou to everyone who entered!

Congratulations to June!! The pillow is adorable! But, all the finishes are lovely creations indeed! Re your 30-year WIP – I too have projects I started or wanted to start when the children were young, and never had time or energy to work/finish them. But, I always think – if I still like the project now (tastes/interests do change in one's life), I will work little bits here and there to get it finally completed. So, good for you for not chucking it out!! My kiddos are grown, and there is a SIL in the mix now as well. So, for me, the youthful stockings I never stitched have now become the project hunt to find and stitch the stockings that suit them now as adults that they can enjoy and treasure as adults for the remainder of their years. (Perhaps grandkiddos will come along that those designs of old might yet still be stitched when I retire. One can hope.) Cheerio for now, Lynn. Always good to hear from you. xx

    Santa is looking great!
I'm so glad that you are completing the sampler, as you say, better late than never! I agree with you how quickly children grow up. I remember being told that when my son was a few months old and I thought the old lady who told me was a bit crazy, but she was so right. It feels just like yesterday, but almost thirty years ago.
Congrats to June – what a lovely finish!

Your cross stitch projects are amazing and it must feel wonderful to have a 30 year project near completion. I'm also very impressed with the all the projects completed during the stitch-along. Everyone did a great job.
