Remembrance pillow and scissor pouch

Hi everyone, at this time of year I always like to take a moment to remember the fallen in the wars, I started to design this pillow a few years ago and finally managed to get it finished recently.
We have attended a number of memorial services over the years in the UK and France, at the beginning of this year we also visited the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium to attend the last post ceremony, which was extremely moving. It was a place we had always wanted to visit, seeing all those names on the gate takes your breath away, thousands upon thousands of names, the sadness one feels is quite overwhelming.

You can read about the last post ceremony here

When I hear these words at this time of the year I always need a tissue......

"At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them"

Indeed, we must remember what these brave people did for us all.

Stitching News

I have not been doing any cross stitch as I have been in a knitting mood, I have been working on a lovely scarf/cowel which I cannot wait to finish, I started it last week and only have a little bit more to do before it is complete. I purchased the yarn a number of years ago but did not buy enough for the project I wanted to knit at the time but when I saw this pattern I knew I had to make it.

It is called the 11 PM Cowl, you can find it on Ravelry here

Photo below.

In a poppy mood I decided to use this gorgeous fabric and make a pretty scissor pouch.

Reverse  side

I am using chunky yarn and 8mm needles so it is super fast to make

Until next time, happy stitching!

Beautiful pillow Lynn - My husband is a Viet Nam War veteran so this has special meaning to me - we got married two weeks before he went overseas. Luckily all went well and we survived. Both my father and brother served in the Navy so lots of veterans in my family. Poppy sales used to be common in the US but now I rarely see them. Memorial Day was the big day for selling poppies. Wonder whatever happed to that tradition. That poppy fabric is beautiful - so rich and full of lucious color!

Lynn: That shawl color is stunning.
I love the pouch the poppy fabric is amazing.
The poppy pillow is so sweet.
It is sad when lives are lost, when they are protecting us from evil doers.

Blessings

This pillow is a lovely tribute those who fought and perished for our liberty. Over here "across the pond", we have Memorial Day in May where we do this.
I love your scarf - it's going to be so warm and cuddly!
