July and Boo pillows finished

Hi everyone, I was pleased to get the July pillow finished, I am loving the red fabric I just happened to have in my stash, I was initially convinced I would struggle with finding the right fabric but was glad it matched the red perfectly.

I am in a bit of a pillow making mood at the moment, as you can see from all of my previous posts, I managed to finally finish my Boo Cross Stitch design into a pillow too.

I don't give the instructions in the pattern how to finish the pillow but it is a very easy pillow to make.

I decided  how large I wanted to make the pillow and measured from the edge of the cross stitch all around, I left about an inch margin from all four edges. I ironed the cross stitch face down on a towel and then attached iron on interfacing to the back, I then cut two strips of fabric for the sides each measuring 3.5 inches wide and attached non iron-on interfacing to the fabric,( you can use iron on if you prefer) stitch the side fabric to the cross stitch at the sides and press the seams. 

Measure two pieces of fabric for the top and the bottom, again these were 3.5 inches wide, stitch these sides to the top and bottom and press with the iron.

You now have a finished front, I then made an envelope back and used orange press stud fasteners on the opening. 

I tend to use this method for all of my pillow finishes, I find it gives them a crisp, fresh look. I also made a pillow insert but did not have quite enough fibre fill for the inside so it is not as full as I would like it to be.
