Hi everyone, for many, many years all of my stitching things were basically carried around in a plastic bag, however, someone came up with the idea of project bags and they have really taken the internet by storm, everywhere you look on knitting and sewing podcasts everyone is talking about them!
I cannot understand why I never thought of this before, so of course I had to give them a try.
If you saw my last post you will have seen my cupcakes project bag that I made for a project bag swap on Ravelry, well, I decided to make some more. (Photos below)
Don't you just love the fabric on this? I made a large bag and a mini notions/crochet hook holder, the large bag fits at least ten balls of the yarn in the photo plus my crochet squares, it really is nice and roomy. I made it from wadding that was quite flimsy and soft, this allows me to roll the top down and crochet straight from the bag.
I lined the bags in a plain white fabric, I wanted to see if the bag turned out ok before wasting fancy fabric for the inside! Lol....
I will be making many more, in particular I need some for my cross stitch projects.
I attached a little ring to the notions pouch, eventually I will be making my own stitch markers to attach to this.
Large bag folded down so that I can see all of my yummy yarn!
Quite some time ago I started to learn to crochet with these lovely pastel shades of yarn, however I got a bit stuck on the finishing and the yarn was left in a bag until I got around to teaching myself how to finish the squares into a pillow, I have now taught myself how to do that, but this week I taught myself how to finish a granny square into a pillow, and here it is!
I want to finish my other squares into pretty pillows, so hopefully I can finally get them finished and show them on my blog.
I purchased the yarn from Crafternoon Treats on Etsy, they were just five mini skeins and I managed to make them into a pillow. If you want to learn to crochet you really must go and check out Kathryn's podcasts, I love them and cannot wait until the next one is up on her channel on You Tube, what a talented lady she is. Thankyou Kathryn for the lovely yarn and of course your fabulous podcasts.
My sister gave me some lovely Paris fabric a few years ago, I thought it was perfect for the reverse of this pillow, I had the fabric nicely matched on the overlap but when I put the pillow inside of course it stretched, next time I will allow for that so that it matches.
I found the buttons in my stash
As you can see I am in a crochet mood! I played around making these cute bracelets, I don't normally wear bracelets as I have a nasty habit of catching my wrists in door handles when I wear them, I am extremely accident prone, so I gave up years ago, if I wrote a list of some of the accidents I have had you would not believe it, honestly I can trip up over my own shadow!
One example, I have fallen down the stairs twice, once with my young son in my arms, (many years ago) I remember his giggle as if it was yesterday, he just said "again Mummy" and giggled!!!!! Of course I managed to throw myself backwards to save him but my head hit every step on the way down, my back was pretty bruised too!
Anyway, back to the bracelets, these bracelets can be made to fit quite snug on the wrist which reduces my chances of catching them.
There are many tutorials on You Tube showing how to make these.
The cream yarn is Alpaca Silk and the pink is Anchor thread.
Cross stitch
I have just designed a Valentine Birdie pattern that will be out on my blog on Freebie Friday this week, I have made the pattern into a pretty pillow in pastel shades.
Until next time Happy Stitching!

Oh Lynn your bag is just beautiful love the material .
Such a delightful post Lynn! I love your project and notions bags - such cute fabric that you've used. You've chosen such luscious colours for your crochet projects. I'm going to make one of those bracelets and a necklace (your link) since I just happen to have a ball of the perfect yarn for them. Thank you for the links. I'm beginning to wonder if all the time I spend online is why I'm falling behind with my projects. ;) I enjoyed reading about your son's reaction to falling down the stairs with his mom. It's a COLD day here today due to the strong wind but they're promising warm by the weekend.
Love your bag. I need to get a bag or two. All my UFO's have been living in over sized zip locked bags. :)
The pillow is so pretty. I am so excited to see what you make next. I love crocheting, and knitting, too. Have you tried knitting?
Wishing you a most lovely day.
I love your bags and those bracelets are just the cutest!
Beautiful projects!! Love the colors in both granny square projects. You really should open up your own etsy shop!
Love your projectbag and the little notion pouch with it! (I am still searching for a proper dutch translation of the word Notion Pouch *Ü*) What a great idea of using the ring for the stitchmarkers; I will remember that.
Accicents like yours I regonize: I have it with wide sleeves as well..:-)
What a sweet comment of your son, but ofcourse very good of his mum protecting him.
You have made beautyful crochet. Are you making the snowblanket?
Have fun with your projectbags: I know how it feels *Ü*
Greetings again
I too have been playing around with making project bags. I'm not good with zippers so mine have draw-string closures:) I do love the fabric you used for yours!! And that pillow is very pretty, the backing fabric is perfect for it.
Your project bags are wonderful, and I adore the fabric you chose. The granny square pillow is wonderful and the backing fabric is perfect too. Youtube is brilliant for learning new crafts...that's how I learned to crochet too!
So beautiful! I have seen that print on Graphic 45 scrapbooking materials.
Your bags are so nicely done. Love the idea for the stitch markers. That will make them very accessible when you need them. So pretty!
Your project bags are absolutely gorgeous- I wish I could make them but I'm not very good with my machine. Yes I can relate to the accident prone thing as well. My husband is always pointing out "mystery bruises" where I've bashed my legs who knows where?!
Beautiful bag! lol I loved your stair story because I'm the the exact same way! I tripped down the bleacher stairs at my after prom after being called for an award in front of literally the entire senior class
Everything is so cute!!! Love the bags and bracelets!
