Mirabilia Christmas Queen progress

Mirabilia Royal Holiday Cross Stitch By Lynn B

Ever since I started blogging I have picked up a very bad habit, well it is a bad habit for me and now drives me crazy, the absolute inability to resist starting too many projects at once, trust me, I never did this before, I only ever did one project at a time!

I do tend to be a bit of a control freak and hate the feeling of being out of control with all this stitching going on at once. My latest victim is a Mirabilia pattern called Royal Holiday or Christmas Queen as it is otherwise known, which I started in April 2012, I could not believe it was that long since I started this project!!!   So I picked it up again the other day and I am loving stitching this as the colours are so vibrant. I am not too happy using the metallic thread, I always find it hard to make the stitches lie correctly on the fabric.

Before I proceed further I am going to complete the backstitching on her face and then do the beading in the top section,  but thus far I think she looks pretty nice don't you?

  3. She is beautiful! Her colors look amazing. Can't wait to see what she looks like finished.

I am not a fan of working with metallic thread either. The only thing I have found that saves my sanity is Thread Heaven. Keeps the threads from getting kinked up and knotting.

I have a problem starting too many projects as well. I took a vow that I wouldn't start any more until I finished one...and started another one the next week!

    Happy stitching.

  4. Oh I know what you mean Lynn! I used to be the same! One project at a go - or at the most one large one and a little one to fill in the gaps when I get tired of the other :)
Your Christmas Queen is looking gorgeous!

  7. She is so pretty :) I can relate to the metallic thread, I really dislike it and so many of these designs call for it too.

Can't wait to see more of her!

  13. Beautiful! I agree re blogging, I was a one at a time girl until I discovered blogs! Thread Heaven, short lengths and very slow stitching are my top tips for metallics but I hate it too!

  22. A gorgeous design. I know metallic thread makes you spit feathers but when you have the overall effect ... so worth the effort.
