Hi everyone, here is the latest stitching on Santa's Village, I have not been stitching this because for the moment I am not in the mood for cross stitching, can you believe that!
However, I am in the mood for knitting, having a go at crochet and a little bit of mug rug making.
I think I purchased this wool about ten years ago and it has been in a bag ever since, I did start making a jumper with it but decided I did not like the pattern so I decided to buy another pattern recently and make a cardigan instead. The wool is 100% aran wool from Rowan, it is really lovely wool and a delight to knit with.
I am not the most experienced knitter but I do want to improve my skills in this area and I also want to learn to crochet.
The wool feels gorgeous to the touch and I cant wait to get it finished, although I have pulled it back a few times because I did the stitches wrong, I must admit I tend to do that a lot when I am knitting!
I also received some wonderful news last week that my husband and I were Great Uncle and Aunt to a gorgeous little boy in the family, he is absolutely beautiful!
Of course I immediately wanted to knit him something sweet and here is the pattern I have chosen, I will show you the work in progress once I have started it.
Here is my first crochet project, pretty little roses, I am just learning how to do the leaves.
I took a visit to my local Hobbycraft and saw this beautiful fabric, I simply could not leave the store without it!
I also wanted to make my first mug rug, here it is, well a sneak preview of the work in progress, that should be ready soon.
Another new venture for me is the planting of roses in our garden, we planted these in April this year and I am thrilled with their progress, they are so pretty and I can't wait until next year to plant lots more!

What lovely stitching. You are very talented. I am new to crochet, but always have been a knitter. I am afraid I do tend to start but not finish things, as I get carried away with different new projects. I think you have inspired me to get on with some crochet.

OMG Lynn, at each photo I heard myself saying 'ohhh' right to the very end of your post. I love those crocheted flowers and your knitting patterns. I am not much of a knitter - I can do it and even knitted a child's sweater once but if I have to undo stitches I'm a goner. :) Your mug rug is intriguing. Congrats on the new fella in the family!

Hello Carol. You are definitely a lady of many, many talents! Your sweater is coming along beautifully and I love those pretty little rosettes. I have never heard of mug rug making, but your Christmas one is just gorgeous! Sweet progress on Santa's house too!

I'm thinking of picking up another craft but then I think about how that leaves much less time for cross stitch, so I just haven't brought myself to try something new just yet!
